Here’s how to help the family of slain EMT Yadira Arroyo

New York’s Daily News is making the initial $10,000 donation to the “EMT Arroyo Children’s Fund,” and is asking our readers to join us by opening up their hearts and wallets.

Arroyo, 44, left behind five boys — the youngest 7, the oldest 24 — when a career criminal with 31 prior arrests stole her ambulance and used it to mow her down in the Soundview section of the Bronx on Thursday.

“Yadira Arroyo was slain in the line of duty after devoting her life to caring for others as an FDNY emergency medical technician,” said Daily News Co-Chairman and Co-Publisher Eric Gertler. “Her death is heartbreaking for the city, and the tragedy inflicted upon her five children is immeasurable.”

Every dollar donated will go directly to her kids through the FDNY Foundation, especially the youngest child and her 16-year-old son, who lost their loving matriarch and sole financial provider, Gertler said. Here’s how to help the family of slain EMT Yadira Arroyo
