Jealous rage prompted man to open fire in Jerome Ave Burger King

A man shot inside a Bronx Burger King this week told cops the gunman likely thought his ex-girlfriend was now dating him, police sources said.

Fernando Soto, 43, was grazed in the arm in the Wednesday afternoon confrontation.

But the most serious injury happened when the suspect got onto a city bus, sparking a stampede by frightened passengers during which an 83-year-old woman was trampled.

She was treated for a laceration on her head.
The suspect, Cisco Ward, 42, fired a shot after getting off the bus and was caught nearby, police said.

Soto was talking with two friends — a man and a woman Ward used to date — inside the Burger King on Jerome Ave., in Mount Hope, when Ward saw them from outside the restaurant. He then went inside and opened fire.

Before getting on the bus, Ward tried in vain to take a car driven by an 18-year-old man with a 2-year-old passenger, police said.

He then got on the bus.

Ward, who lives in Yonkers, was charged with assault, gun possession, menacing and reckless endangerment. He has 16 prior arrests, including for assault and robbery.
